Kundt’s Tube

Kundt’s Tube exhibit shows the nodes and antinodes of a standing wave. When a sound wave reaches the end of the tube bounces back with the same frequency and the same amplitude, it will become a standing wave. Standing waves are characterized by alternate points of maximum and minimum disturbance called nodes and antinodes. Visitors will experience these nodes and antinodes by fountains spraying up at the place of the antinodes.
